Astronomical Instrumentation

One of the key objectives of the Center for Excellence in Astrophysics and Associated Technologies (CATA) is to become a bridge between astronomy and engineering, stimulating technological development. In order to achieve this goal, the innovative Ph.D. program in Electrical Engineering with mention in Astronomical Instrumentation has been instated, as well as the Millimeter Wave Laboratory at Cerro Calán, where projects of the highest international standards are carried on.

Ongoing projects:
1. Production of Receivers for the Band 1 of ALMA telescope.
2. Development of a prototype receiver for ALMA Band 2+3.
3.- Development of receivers for LLAMA telescope.
4.- FPGA based digital spectrometers.
5.- Millimeter-wave Telescope in Cerro Calán.
