Franz Erik Bauer

I came into Astronomy by way of Physics and never left. It has not necessarily been the easiest path to follow, but I love what I do and I am fortunate enough to study the most extreme objects in the Universe for a living, which few people can say. So what do I do? Well, I am an observational astronomer, working across all possible wavelengths to find and characterize black holes both supermassive and stellar in size, as well as the final stages of stellar evolution leading up to explosions known as supernovae.
