Santiago González

I‘ am currently interested in different aspects of thermonuclear and core-collapse supernovae. During my PhD I worked on various photometric characteristics of subluminous type Ia supernovae, their identification at high redshift with the Supernova Legacy Survey (SNLS) and their evolution with cosmic time. I have also worked on photometric classification of plateau supernovae and their rate evolution.

I am now a postdoctoral fellow at Universidad de Chile working on multiple supernova projects, notably on progenitors of type Ia supernovae, particularly the subluminous sample, and on alternative standardization techniques for type Ia supernovae for cosmology. My research is possible through our collaboration with the Carnegie Supernova Project (CSP), the Public ESO Spectroscopic Survey of Transient Objects (PESSTO), as well as our own CHASE supernova search.
