Timo Anguita

My PhD studies were coursed at Heidelberg University in Germany where I was part of the International Max Planck Research School for Astronomy. My Ph.D work was mainly related to the use of gravitational lensing as a tool to study distant quasars.

Currently, I have been hired as part of a joint project between the Max Planck Institut fuer Astronomie and the Center for Astro-Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. My current research is still related to gravitational lensing, using the extragalactic microlensing phenomenon to study the internal compact structure of distant quasars, as well as studying the morphology and evolution of massive structures such as galaxies and clusters of galaxies that act as gravitational lenses. Part of my job description includes providing scientific service and support to the observations carried out with the 2.2 ESO/MPG telescope at La Silla Observatory.
